"Is that pioneer choking that Native America guy to death or do I have something crazy in my eye?"
Upstate New York village has a village seal that appears so racist towards Native Americans that it's like something from a sitcom. The existence of this seal goes viral online. Fake news show arrives in the village to do a story about it. Visit prompts an actual vote in the town -- and no change in seal. Vote leads to even more non-fake news coverage. Fake news segment airs on TV. Village says it will now work with Native American nation to change the seal.
So, a pretty typical series of events.
(Whitesboro, New York is just west of Utica.)

Until a few minutes ago I really thought it was an Onion story.

Well, it's right up there with the old Price Chopper logo with the female figure having her head split open with an ax. The "What were they thinking?" school of graphic art.

I graduated from the Whitesboro Central School district way back when, and I don't think I ever saw the town's seal until the story became viral - it's just one of those things you don't really notice until someone points it out to you. Still...
BTW, the mascot of the school district: The Whitesboro Warriors. Maybe they'll change that too.
