Events for getting dressed up and going dancing?

disco ball club lightsM. emails:

I just really want an occasion to put on a glitzy dress and dance the night away. Are there any balls in the Capital region open to the community?

There are definitely events like this from time to time, many of them connected to charitable causes. For example, SPAC's annual winter ball is coming up in February. But we're wondering if there tends to be a season for these sorts of events.

So, got a suggestion for M.? Or maybe a make-your-own-fun and dress up idea? Please share.

The Bennington Young Professionals will host a dance party February 20 at the Masonic Hall in downtown Bennington. It's not in Albany, but we've got Trumastr Trimingham coming out to get us shakin' our rumps.

The Flurry Festival (used to be called "The Dance Flurry") is in Saratoga Springs in multiple venues for three days -- Friday, Feb. 12th through Sunday, Feb. 14th. Dances in many styles -- all with live bands. Plus other good entertainment for when your feet get tired.

Takk House held its Fall Ball (or Grown-up Prom) in November, and it was a great time - hopefully they'll have another this fall, if not before!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
