Work by African-American artists in the ESP collection
Tuesday: The Empire State Plaza will be hosting a panel discussion about works by African-American artists that are in the ESP's art collection. Tuesday 6 pm, concourse near the Madison Ave entrance - free

Illustrating comics
Tuesday: Local illustrator Ira Marcks will be at the Opalka Gallery on the Sage Albany campus for a talk about illustrating comics. Tuesday 6:30 pm - free

Animal courtship and human love
Thursday: Animal behaviorist Jennifer Verdolin wil be at UAlbany as part of the NYS Writers Institute visiting writers series for a talk about animal courtship and human relationships. Blurbage: "Her book on the subject, Wild Connection (2014), grows out of her same-titled blog for Psychology Today. The book is a rich and often hilarious treasury of scientific knowledge about animal sex-- from the brutal courtship of the praying mantis to the tender romance of the royal albatross." Thursday 8 pm, uptown campus, Campus Center Room 375 - free

Film

Three Stooges
Monday: The Palace's movies series has its annual Three Stooges Film Festival lined up. Monday 7 pm - $5 / $3 kids

Groundhog Day
Tuesday is Groundhog Day, so the It Came From Schenectady series at Proctors is showing Groundhog Day in the GE Theater. Tuesday 7 pm - $9 / $6 students

On Screen/Sound
Thursday: The On Screen/Sound series at EMPAC picks back up with "a pair of films that consider the way that dialogue is dubbed into a film's soundtrack." One film was directed by Morgan Fisher, the other by Alfred Hitchcock. Thursday 7 pm - $6

Siena hoops

Monday: The Siena men's basketball team takes on Monmouth at the TU Center. Monmouth is one of the best mid major teams this season -- and but the Hawks have gotten the most attention for their bench celebrations. Monday 7 pm - $8 and up

Naked Influence

Tuesday-Sunday: Capital Rep continues its production of the new play Naked Influence, "about a charismatic exotic dancer who finds herself engulfed in a doomed relationship with a congressman." Tuesday-Sunday various times - $20 and up
