James Beard award for Brooks
Brooks's House of Barbecue in Oneonta won a James Beard Award in the "America's Classics" category -- "regional establishments, often family-owned, that are treasured for their quality food, local character, and lasting appeal" From the blurb for Brooks: "Cooked on a 38-foot indoor charcoal pit, the barbecue chicken emerges with blistered skin and backyard flavor that goes bone-deep." The owners say they had no idea they were up for the prestigious award. [James Beard Foundation] [New York Upstate]
