Downtown Albany Restaurant Week
Saturday: Downtown Albany Restaurant Week starts. Seventeen Albany restaurants will be offering 3 course meals for $20.16. It runs through April 15.
David Sedaris
Saturday: The David Sedaris appearance at The Egg is sold out. (Every now and then tickets for sold-out shows become available day of, so keep an eye out on The Egg's Facebook page if you're holding out hope.)
Comedy
The Comedy Get Down Tour
Saturday: The Times Union Center hosts The Comedy Get Down Tour, featuring Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hugley, George Lopez, Eddie Griffin ,and Charlie Murphy. Saturday 8 pm -- $26.75 and up
Real Life: The Improv
Friday: The Mop & Bucket Company continues its season of Real Life: The Improv, in which improvisors create scenes and songs based on live interviews with local celebrities. Friday 8 pm -- $14.
Stage
The Lion King
Friday-Sunday: A touring production of The Lion King continues its month-long run at Proctors. It is, of course, the hugely-popular musical based on the Disney movie. Tuesday-Sunday various times -- $20 and up
Living on Love
Friday-Sunday: Curtain Call continues a production of Joe DiPietro's Living on Love, a comedy about a demanding diva who discovers that her maestro husband has become enamored with the lovely young lady hired to ghostwrite his autobiography. Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 3 pm -- $24
The Marvelous Wonderettes / Forever Plaid
Friday-Sunday: Not So Common Players will perform the revues The Marvelous Wonderettes and Forever Plaid in rep. Forever Plaid will be performed on Friday at 2 pm and The Wonderettes will be performed on Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm -- free
Julius Caesar
Friday: The Adirondack Shakespeare Company presents Shakespeare's Julius Caesar at the National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs. Friday 7:30 pm --
CS Lewis
Sunday: The one-man show An Evening with CS Lewis will be at the Troy Music Hall. "Seated in his living room and in front of a warm fire he recalls the people and events that inspired his thought and shaped his life; of his friendship with J R R Tolkien; why he nearly abandoned the Narnia Chronicles; how he came to embrace Christianity and of the American woman who turned his life upside down." Sunday 2:30 pm -- $15 and up
Film
Evolution of a Criminal
Friday: Filmmaker Darius Clark Monroe will be at UAlbany as part of the NYS Writers Institute. He directed the documentary Evolution of a Criminal. "The film reexamines, in strikingly candid fashion, an event from Monroe's own teenage years: his participation in a 1997 Texas bank robbery and his subsequent incarceration. The film includes a variety of interviews with Monroe's family members, teachers, and law enforcement officials." Monroe will talk after after a screening of the doc. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Saturday: The Linda is screening The Rocky Horror Picture Show with live shadow cast The Whip-it Outskirts. Proceeds go to The March of Dimes. Saturday 9 pm -- $20

Moveable Feast
Saturday: Historic Albany Foundation's annual Moveable Feast event is sold out.
Night At The Brewseum
Friday: The NYS Military Museum hosts "A Night at the Brewseum" -- a night of craft beer, wine and food tasting. Friday 8 pm -- $40 pre-sale / $45 at the door

Wander through one of the Capital Region's museums:
Imaging the American West
Saturday: The exhibit Imaging the American West: Selections from The Metropolitan Museum of Art opens at the State Museum. Blurbage:
The exhibition covers works dating from about 1850 to 1930 and centers on four specific themes: the land, Native Americans, wildlife, and cowboys. Artists represented in the exhibition include Albert Bierstadt, Paul Manship, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frederic Remington, and Charles M. Russell. The exhibition offers a fresh look at the multifaceted roles played by these artists in creating interpretations of western life and scenery, whether those interpretations are based on fact, fiction, or, most often, something in-between.
It will be on display through July 17.
Butterflies
There are a few weeks left to catch the butterfly house at miSci. "Discover hundreds of brilliantly colored native butterflies." The exhibit continues through April 19. free with museum admission.
Arkell
The Arkell Museum is open with with two new exhibitions, one about Rembrandt's influence on printmakers and the other on the work of Edward Buyck.
Alma Thomas
The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College has its exhibit of the bright, colorful paintings of Alma Thomas. It's on display until June 5.
Eye for Excellence
The Clark's exhibit about how their permanent collection works and how new work is added to it closes this weekend.
Hockey
Sunday: The Albany Devils take on the Toronto Marlies at the Times Union Center. Sunday 3pm -- $16 and up
Scooping for Friendship
Saturday: AOA Mary will join a host of other charity ice cream scoopers at Ben & Jerry's of Saratoga to scoop ice cream forBest Buddies. Scoopers will be competing for tips and 100 percent of all sales will be donated to Best Buddies. Saturday from noon to 2 pm

Seasonal ice cream stands around the Capital Region have been opening during the past few weeks.

Stop by a farmers market for something local and delicious:
+ Troy Waterfront Farmers Market is inside the Atrium. Saturday 9 am-2 pm
+ The Saratoga Farmers' Market is indoors at the Lincoln Baths. Saturday from 9 am-1 pm
+ The Schenectady Greenmarket is at its indoor location at Proctors. Sunday from 10 am-2 pm.
+ The Spa City Farmers' Market is inside at the Lincoln Baths Sunday from 10 am-3 pm

The National Upholstering Design Studio/Gallery is joining Elissa Halloran Designs for Whiskers Day.
Elissa Halloran Designs on Lark St will be open from 11 to 5 this Sunday. 10% of all sales will be donated to Whiskers Cat Rescue.
