Presidential candidates

Monday: The Capital Region will be crawling with presidential candidates. John Kasich will be in Saratoga Springs and Troy. Bernie Sanders will be at the Washington Ave Armory. And Donald Trump will be at the TU Center (Pearl Street in front of the area will be closed to traffic all day). Expect crowds and possible delays.

Monday: Neil deGrasse Tyson will be at Proctors for "a night of science and live audience Q&A." Tyson is the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. But he's become a prominent pop culture figure as a communicator and advocate for science, hosting TV shows such as the rebooted Cosmos, appearing on The Daily Show, and accreting a huge following on Twitter. Monday 8 pm -- $40.75 and up

Downtown Albany Restaurant Week

Monday-Friday: Restaurant week continues in downtown Albany. Seventeen restaurants will be offering three-course meals for $20.16. It continues through Friday night.

Arts and sciences

Steven Millhauser
Wednesday: Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist (and Skidmore professor) Steven Millhauser will be at RPI as part of the NYS Writers Institute visiting writers series. He'll be reading from his new collection stories, Voices in the Night. Wednesday 8 pm, RPI, Biotech Auditorium at the Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Building -- free

1791 Club
Wednesday: The Albany Institute is hosting another 1791 Club get-together, this time with a behind-the-scenes peek at how the museum changes exhibits. "Discover how museums install/de-install shows and get a chance to ask staff your questions. Afterwards, we'll head over to a local venue for happy hour specials." Wednesday 5:30 pm -- $10 (RSVP by Tuesday)

When Disaster Strikes
Friday: Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheri Fink is the keynote speaker at a conference at UAlbany on ethics and justice in disaster settings. Fink won a 2010 Pulitzer for investigative reporting for the life-and-death decisions made at a hospital during Hurricane Katrina, and she was part of the team that won a 2015 Pulitzer for international reporting for coverage of the Ebola epidemic. Fink's talk will be followed by a panel discussion. Friday, UAlbany uptown campus, campus center ballroom -- free (must register by Monday, details at the event link)

Underground Railroad Public History Conference
Friday-Sunday: The annual Underground Railroad Public History Conference returns in Troy -- this year's theme is "The Underground Railroad and American Identities." The conference includes talks, workshops, and tours. Friday-Sunday various times -- various prices

The Lion King

Tuesday-Sunday: A touring production of The Lion King continues its month-long run at Proctors. It is, of course, the hugely-popular musical based on the Disney movie. Tuesday-Sunday various times -- $20 and up

Hockey

This is the last week of the regular season for the Albany Devils -- they have two games at the TU Center, on Wednesday (vs. Binghamton) and Saturday (vs. Bridgeport).

Silent Film Spectacular

Wednesday: The current season of the Albany Public Library's Silent Film Spectacular series continues with a screening of Battleship Potemkin with live original score performed by Matt Weston. 7 pm, Washington Ave branch -- free

Music

Monday: The U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters Chorus at The Palace
"The twenty-voice chorus, accompanied by a three-piece rhythm section, will perform a variety of styles ranging from patriotic selections to Broadway show-stoppers." 7 pm -- free
