The week ahead

beck in turquoise

Beck is one of the headliners at this year' s Mountain Jam, which starts later this week.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, look forward to, or keep busy with this week, from the weather (as you'd expect), to Memorial Day, to gelato, to bikes, to music...

Weather

Here's the paraphrased forecast for this week:
Monday: Scattered showers. Mid 80s.
Tuesday: Sunny and 82.
Wednesday: Sunny and 80.
Thursday: Sunny and almost 80.
Friday: Cloudy, maybe some rain. Low 70s.
Weekend: Some sun, 70s.

Pretty much as you'd expect.

Memorial Day

It's Monday, as you know, as a result some things will be closed. It's a federal holiday dedicated to remembering people who died while serving in the country's armed forces.

By the way: Memorial Day is relatively late this year -- May 30 -- because it's commemorated on the last Monday in May and the last day of the month is a Tuesday this year. (The holiday was very early last year.)

Events associated with the annual Capital Pride celebration continue this week at various venues around the region. (The big pride parade and festival is June 11 this year.)

Thursday: The city of Albany is hosting a public meeting about forming a plan to connect the Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail and the Mohawk-Hudson Hike-Bike Trail in Albany's South End. There's been a lot of work going on recently with both of these bike/hike trails. The paved segment of Albany County's Helderberg Hudson trail between Delmar and the South End will officially opened recently. And the city of Albany has a $5 million project under construction to upgrade pedestrian and bike amenities along the Mohawk-Hudson trail along the Hudson riverfront.
