Tuesday: The Front Parlor storytelling series with the The Hangar in Troy. This week's theme: "Departures and Arrivals." Tuesday 7:30 pm

Ulysses
Wednesday: In honor of Bloomsday (which is Thursday) the Irish American Heritage Museum in Albany is hosting a talk about James Joyce's Ulysses. "Stephen Bowman will lead the audience through the main themes and history of the book, making the story of one Leopold Bloom more accessible to all. Further, Bowman will show how Joyce truly attempted to capute the very soul of Dublin in his novel." Wednesday 7 pm -- free

Schuyler Flatts

There are a few events this week related to the Schuyler Flatts Burial Ground Project:

+ Thursday: State Museum curator of bioarchaeology Lisa Anderson will giving a lunchtime talk about what was learned about the lives of people who were enslaved at the Schuyler Flatts site (in what's now Menands) from the study of human remains. Tuesday 12:10 pm, State Museum Huxley Theater -- free

+ Friday: The remains of the 14 people being buried as part of the project will lie in state at the Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site in Albany's South End. The remains will be in the burial containers designed by artists for the project. Friday noon-8 pm

+ Saturday: The burial ceremony for the remains will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Saturday 11 am-2 pm

At the Plaza, Rockin' on the River,

Two prominent free events series start off their seasons this week:

At the Plaza
Wednesday: The At the Plaza series at the Empire State Plaza starts with a jazz night, featuring Rachelle Farrell, Cyrus Chestnut, and Out of the Box. Wednesday 5 pm -- free

Rockin' on the River
Wednesday: The Rockin' on the River concert series in Troy's Riverfront Park starts with a show from Start Making Sense, a Talking Heads tribute act. Opener is The Troy Music Academy All-Stars. Wednesday 5 pm -- free

Strawberries

Strawberry season has started at farms around the region, and it only lasts a few weeks in some places. So the next week should be a good time to go. (And if you can knock off work a little early one day during the week to go, even better.) Here are a bunch of places where you can pick your own. And look for local strawberries at farm stands.

First Rockin on the River, Start Making Sense, this Wednesday.

The Castleton-on-Hudson Farmers and Artisans Market takes place every first and third Friday, June 17-Sept. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. The event features food, music, arts and crafts.
