B) The impressively productive output from an Albany cottonwood tree.
By the way: For a time in the 1800s in Albany, "the planting or maintaining of a cottonwood tree" was a misdemeanor punishable by three months in the penitentiary. [Hoxsie]
By the way, by the way: The oldest eastern cottonwood tree on record is said to be the Balmville Tree, cut down in 2015 in the town of Newburgh here in New York, at more than 300 years old. [New York History Blog]
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
