Albany Jazz Festival 2016 lineup

albany jazzfest 2016

Clockwise from left: Ellis Marsalis, Lucky Chops, KJ Denhert.

The lineup for the annual Albany Jazz Festival -- September 10 this year -- is out. It's headlined this year by the is jazz pianist Ellis Marsalis Quintet. The full lineup is after the jump.

Marsalis is, of course, the father of Wynton and Branford Marsalis. (Sons Delfeayo and Jason Marsalis also grew up to be jazz musicians.) He's a major figure in the history of New Orleans jazz and has taught many of the jazz artists who developed in the city.

The jazz festival is usually in Corning Riverfront Park. But, as with Alive at Five this summer, construction there this year has prompted a different spot: the Washington Park Parade Grounds. The rain location is Corning Preserve Boat Launch.

The festival runs from 1-8:30 pm on Saturday, September 10. Admission is free.
