The Sharon Springs Harvest Festival returns this coming weekend, September 17 and 18, in the Schoharie County village. There are a bunch of things on the schedule for the festival this year. A few highlights:

+ Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell -- AKA, the Beekman Boys -- will be at their Beekman 1802 retail store in the village signing "copies of books, magazines, and whatever else you put in front of them." (They're also offering tours of their farm -- tickets are $25.)

+ There will be an Etsy Makers Village. "Etsy takes over one of the streets in town to highlight the wares of some of their very best regional craftspersons."

+ Former Albany resident Michael Guidice, who's started a cider orchard in Sharon Springs, will be talking about the "incredible history of hard cider in this region, and how it's making a comeback."

+ Screenings of the documentary about Sharon Jones, Miss Sharon Jones.

+ Activities (including a tractor parade), entertainment, vendors, and food.

Activities start at 10 am on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday. Festival admission is free.

Sharon Springs is a fun spot for an easy day trip. It's just about an hour's drive from Albany, and especially scenic if you take Route 20.
