Traveling replica of Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington Park, Maya Lin talk at Union
A traveling, scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is in Albany's Washington Park and will be on display through Monday, September 19. From a press release distributed by the city:
The Traveling Wall is a 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington DC, standing six feet tall at the center and covering almost 300 feet from end to end. Traveling the country, this Memorial stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their hometown who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.
The memorial is located between the Knox Street Mall and Willett Street in the southeast corner of the park.
Maya Lin
