Sip and sketch

Monday: The Low Beat hosts its first Punk Rock Sketch and Sip event with artist Robert B. Eaton and figure models. Artists are encouraged to bring their own materials. Monday 7 pm -- $15 / $8 students with valid ID

Arts and sciences

Mapping the Green Book
Monday: Jennifer Reut, a senior editor at Landscape Architecture Magazine, will be at Skidmore for a talk about The Green Book, which guided African-Americans to establishments and accommodations that would serve them during the Jim Crow era. "She will be talking about her research on landscapes of race and travel between World War II and the Civil Rights Act." Monday 6:30 pm, Palamountain Hall -- free

"My Stake in Your Dreams and Yours in Mine"
Monday: Attorney/advocate Diane Patrick will be at Union College for a talk titled "Don't Stand Alone: My Stake in Your Dreams and Yours in Mine," part of Union's presidential forum on diversity series. Patrick has chaired the diversity committee at the international law firm Ropes & Gray, which has been recognized for the diversity of its attorneys in the US. (Patrick is also the former first lady of Massachusetts -- she's married to Deval Patrick.) Monday 5 pm, Nott Memorial -- free

CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap
Wednesday: UAlbany's performing arts center is hosting a screening of CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap. Blurbage: "[F]ilmmaker Robin Hauser Reynolds explores the reasons for the gender and minority hiring gap in the tech community. The movie highlights breakthrough efforts that are producing a more diverse programming community and shows how this critical gap can be closed." A discussion and networking session will follow the screening. It's hosted by Capital District Women in Technology. Wednesday 6 pm -- $5

Fashion, power, and the presentation of the everyday self
Wednesday: Arizona State University historian Eduardo Pagán will be at UAlbany for a talk about fashion serving as a medium of power and subversion. Pagán is one of the "history detectives" on PBS. Wednesday 5:30 pm, downtown campus, Page Hall -- free

Love Jones

Thursday: A touring production of Love Jones: The Musical will be at The Palace. It's an adaption of the 1997 film of the same name. The production stars Chrisette Michele, Musiq Soulchild, and Marsha Ambrosius. Thursday 8 pm -- $35 and up

Saturday: LarkFest returns in Albany. Lark Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Madison and Washington for the street fair. Here's the lineup of music acts. Saturday 10 am-6 pm -- free admission
