Over at Curbed: "101 small ways you can improve your city." It's a wide-ranging list, and you might recognize a few of the ideas that have been implement here.

But we'll highlight #82 -- "Just show up." It's something we recommend all the time: Go to a public meeting, make a public statement. You'd surprised how much a small group of people showing up at a meeting can change shift the conversation.
