Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

The Giddy Up Bus has its annual fall food tour lined up for November 5. And we have a pair of tickets to give away -- maybe to you.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

When the weather turns cold, what's something local that you like to eat?

Could be something a certain type of food you can get at many different places, could be something specific at a specific place. It could be something you make at home. We'll draw one winner at random.

The Giddy Up's 4th annual Fall Food Tour is November 5 starting at 11 am. Blurbage:

This season we have decided to highlight the Saratoga Springs region of the capital district. We are excited to have such a variety of restaurants that have jumped on board for this years tour. ... KRAVERIE, Henry Street Taproom Blue Agave @One Caroline and we are awaiting for one restaurant that we will announce shortly.

Tickets for the tour are $65 each. They include transportation and food at all five venues. (Drinks and tip are not included.)

There are so many great options, but my top choice would be one of the mac and cheese dishes from Druthers. Such great comfort food and different options!

Comfort Food! Anything from a small local pub with some beer and friends!

The fire kissed kale at restaurant navona

I start thinking about that El Loco chili carne.

You can get a cup of chili and eat it by dipping chips in it. MMMMMMmmmmm.

Pho from Van's, definitely!

Nothing better than a nice beef stew. My ultimate comfort food!

I hunt for the best butternut squash soup, with maybe some hot homemade bread . !!!

I especially enjoy getting the grilled cheese and soup at the Iron Gate Cafe in Albany! It's the best comfort food when it starts getting cold.

Homemade Crock Pot chili with cheese and crackers. Always a winner.

When it gets cold, anything warm and comforting hits the spot, but my favorite local food to turn to is the mac and cheese and avocado fries from Slidin' Dirty- nothing beats that!

Chinese noodle soup from Hong Kong Bakery.

Every year around this time I return to one of Daniel B's AOA posts, "Cooking out the Cold". All three recipes get my family through some cold cold nights but by far our favorite is the Cuban black beans. It makes enough for many hot lunches that even my slightly fussy kid will eat.

I love those mini-pumpkins that are harvested every autumn. Pretty to look at, and yummy to stuff and bake for a warming fall entree.

ramen

Thanksgiving soup at the Park Pub in Troy NY. YUMMY!

ramen from Tanpopo

Hot coffee, and some Shoefly pie.

Soup dumplings at Taiwan Noodle, or beef stew ramen at Tanpopo

Roasted butternut squash with crispy shallots and sage, all from my garden.

Butternut bisque at saati!

Braised beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and carrots

Fall is poutine time. With duck gravy. Sidenote: poutine time is a good excuse to roast a duck.

Mac and cheese and a Porter.

Bread. All of the bread.

Nachos at Brown's!

Split pea soup made with smoked ham hocks from Fred the Butcher.

Cold weather = roasted chicken, roasted potatoes and red wine (and now I know what I'm cooking this weekend!)

I love to have the French Onion Soup in the crock at Albany Pump Station

Karavali buffet! And the Tom's Turkey sandwich and a cup of soup at Placid Baker. Mmmmm.

The Saigon Pearl has a magical Vietnamese soup called Pho!
There's nothing like a dead chicken for a sick Jew, or anyone else to cure what ails you!

Warm cider donuts and warm apple cider!

Smoked pork chops from Chester's Smokehouse.
No I have no affiliation with them!

Grilled cheese and homemade tomatoe soup

Spiked, warm apple cider

Warm apple cider and a cider donut. Not creative, but definitely delicious!

I second druthers mac and cheese

Grilled cheese and a glass of red wine at Lucas Confectionery on Wednesday grilled cheese night!

I love to warm up with beef chuck noodle soup from Taiwan Noodle.

Cold weather makes me a soup fanatic - any soup at the Whistling Kettle!

I'll eat a hot chocolate

Any of the chowders from Harvest Moon Market in Clifton Park.

Tomato soup and as much sour dough bread as they can give me from the Daily Grind on Lark. Maybe some coffee too. But that's negotiable.

Browns Octoberfest

I live hot chicken wings to make your brow sweat on a chilly day

Homemade roasted butternut squash lasagna, green salad and a hearty red wine

Turkey chili!

Hot pot from Red and Blue or Shining Rainbow!

I make a great Butternut Squash pasta dish made with local ingredients from the farmer's market. When I go out, I like to dine at Lark & Lily by the fireplace with a nice dry red wine and the DelSo Cheese platter.

A hot chocolate from Stacks on Lark St.

Hot and Sour Soup

Druther's mac and cheese!!

French Onion Soup - from Otis and Olivers's flavorful, cheesy and not overly salty!!!
