Today's moment of autumn

Capital Hills autumn maple tree Otto

Otto enjoyed his first trip of the season to Capital Hills. There were many smells to smell.

In related news: Capital Hills -- Albany's municipal golf course -- is now closed for the season for golf. That means it's open all the time for walking, off-leash dogs, and winter fun such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, a sledding (you know, pending snow).

It's a great place to get outside during the cold months, and it's often a beautiful spot (try walking the old course sometime).

That all said... If you do go, please pick up your dog's poop. You'd think that would go without saying, but the evidence each season is otherwise.

Also: The parking lot can get crowded on weekends and it's worth driving slowly and carefully so as to keep an eye out for kids and dogs.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
