Re: Dutch ties
I did a tour of the Martin Van Buren site last year alongside a few middle-aged people from The Netherlands who were visiting NYC & Albany. Afterwards, out of pure curiosity, I asked them if they knew anything about our area's history with the Dutch.
Not one them had any clue about their country's history with this part of the U.S. until that tour. They also admitted that no one back home knows about it either. Granted this was only three people, but I found that interesting.
