It's possible to fly directly to Europe from Bradley (actually an) International Airport via Aer Lingus. And as this New York Times article highlights, new models of planes and the crowding at large airports has airlines looking at other mid-size airports for international routes. Norwegian Air is in the process of starting flights from Stewart (not yet an) International Airport in the Hudson Valley, with average roundtrip fares of $300-$350.
