Collar City Kilt Fest 2017

collar city kilt fest logoThe Collar City Kilt Fest returns to downtown Troy March 18. (That's a few weeks later than years past.) The day includes a 5k kilt run, a costume contest, along with other activities. Blurbage for the run:

[T]he 5K takes runners through a scenic route of downtown Troy and South Troy with bag pipers and leprechauns teasing and taunting racers along the way. Have your picture taken with those pesky leprechauns, and keep an eye out along the race rout for treasure, and special gold beads that can be turned in for prizes post-race!

Registration for the 5k is open. It's $35 ($25 for students) -- that includes registration, a t-shirt, and city pass for free stuff and discounts at participating businesses downtown. There's also currently a 2-for-1 deal on 5k registrations that does not include the city pass.

And if you're not up for the 5k, city passes are available on their own for $15. There's also currently a 4-pack available for $30.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?

If winter ever gets its act together and drops more snow on us, there will be sidewalks to shovel. And shortly after that, Albany will... (more)
