Crossgates hotel plan

Over at the Altamont Enterprise, Elizabeth Floyd Mair has a bunch of details about the proposal to build a new hotel on the chunk of land between Western Ave and Crossgates -- including the millions in tax breaks the project is seeking. [Altamont Enterprise]

Good link. Too bad prooosal doesn't include a condo building as well. The Crossgates model is dated & well located for mixed use innovations. Malls surroundes by sea of cars are dying as are big box shopping names (Sears, KM, Penny, soon Walmart). Thinking differently.

Thank you for posting this!

Great article with the most info i have seen yet. The article said there were only 3 hotels but there is a 4th right on crossgates border. Residence Inn (Marriot). Cant get much closer then that!

I hope this does not go though, at least in that location with direct inlet/outlet to western. It would also bump Teds Fish Fry out of their spot. I fear this would also lower our property value, those of us that are right across the road on alton road, chapman and leto drive.

New jobs and tax income to keep property taxes down would be nice though. I remember hearing that Crossgates does not p rovide taxes to guildarland now though? Not sure how much truth there is to that.

There is the fear of this becoming a seedy extended stay hotel is scary along with the added light pollution.

Why not put the hotel the other side of the mall land that? Away from western that is.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
