Drawing: Pretty Much the Best Comedy Show at Capital Rep + Nine Pin

drawing pretty much the best Dave Hill Nine Pin

Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

The Pretty Much the Best Comedy Show series will be at Capital Rep in Albany this Saturday, June 17 for a show with comedian/writer/musician Dave Hill. And we have four tickets to give away.

BUT WAIT. There's more: We also have a gift certificate for two four-cider flights at Nine Pin's tasting room to include.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

What's your flight of four Capital Region things?

This is kind of loopy question, so obviously there's a lot of room here for potential answers. Maybe it's your four favorite things to do, or your four favorite streets, or your four favorite whatever. We'll draw one winner at random -- that person gets the comedy show tickets and the Nine Pin gift certificate.

Dave Hill has appeared on Comedy Central, been a contributor to This American Life, written for a bunch of different publications, and his band performs the theme song for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. As with all Pretty Much the Best shows, there will also be an opening act and host. Tickets for the show are $15 head / $20 day of.

Nine Pin is on Broadway in Albany's Warehouse District, where it producers hard cider from New York apples and has a tasting room and outdoor cafe space.

Important: All comments must be submitted by 11:59 pm on June 13 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by 10 am on Wednesday and must respond by 10 am that Thursday.

I got four ex-wives. They all still sparkle. Tina is still working up at the Friendly's in the Plaza. She throws me a Fribble or two for half price if the alimony is up to date. Mandy and Sandy are down at Rensselaer Corrections; Mandy is a night shift guard there, Sandy is working off her stolen Christmas tree charges, just about done on that. They seem to get along fine. I heard from Eddie at the muffler shop that those two will be taking the kids up to Six Flags soon as Sandy is out. "That's swell," I said, then wondered "what kids?" And lastly there's little french Simone who is still clomping about upstairs in her tire tread sandals, frying up some fish cakes for the cats. Divorced but never left; she's afraid I will let the garden die. I wouldn't, but I let her think I will.

My flight of four:
1) Mozz sticks with raspberry melba dip
2) Art / architecture gawking at the Plaza & Center Square
3) Sharing slices at Cheesecake Machismo
4) Wild Adriatic show at The Hollow

I'll go with my favorite 4 Capital Region locally made beer/cider: Nine Pin, Druthers, Browns and Albany Pump Station

Four things I wish people would stop whining about:

1) Cold weather/snow - this is new york. Find a cold weather hobby.
2) Parking - this is way we can't have nice things. Even if you mean well, every time you open your mouth about "not enough parking" it adds to the parking word cloud blocking out the sun in this city
3) Traffic - we don't have real traffic. Go visit DC.
4) Robber on the gold mine tile - especially if there's a 6 or an 8 on there.

My flight of four would be:
1) Cappucino Cider Belly donut
2) Cold Brew from Stacks
3) Deathwish Coffee Vodka
4) Pancho & Lefty (Cold drip coffee tequila) from Ama Cocina

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
