"The people I feed are my neighbors."
Over at Table Hopping, Amy Halloran writes about the chefs who prepare meals at Unity House in Troy and how the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York helps stock the kitchen there. "Unity House has a pantry that serves about 1,500 people a month; in the dining room, at the beginning of the month, we serve 60 to 75 guests daily. By the end of the month, when food stamps and benefits run dry, our numbers for lunch, served 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays, are closer to 150." (And it sounds like they're looking for volunteers to help.) [TU Table Hopping]
