Cash crop
A company called American Ginseng Pharm has bought land in Coeymans for the production of ginseng, which has become a hot cash crop because of demand from Asia, Robin Cooper reports. So high is the demand -- and the prices, around $1k per pound -- that agencies that oversee public lands in mid-Atlantic and Northeast have been trying to crack down on wild ginseng poaching.
