The annual Thanksgiving morning race includes a 5k, 10k, walk, and grade school mile. You can register online -- and early bird registration for the first 500 people is $20. (In the past, registration prices for the 5k and 10k have been $30.)

The Troy Turkey Trot is now in its 70th year. It's said be the 12th oldest road race in the nation. Last year 7,210 people took part.

Albany Last Run
Another popular local holiday 5k -- the Albany Last Run -- is December 9 this year. Keep an eye out for registration to open in October. The number of race participants is capped and often fills up.
