"You should be in school, not here"

Not sure we'd necessarily put a whole lot of stock into the numbers mentioned within, but this article in Albany High School's The Nest student paper about a frequent daytime destination for those not inclined to attend class does feel a bit like a peek into high school life. Also: Complaints about school lunches are eternal. [The Nest]

That article was written by a high school kid?! I think he might have a future in journalism

Yeah, great piece of writing and a good publication. Good for the school district for having it.

I cannot for the life of me see why the school rebuild (at albany high) doesn't include a space for a bodega or coffee shop that would be run BY THE STUDENTS as a place to get a snack but also as a job training program.

Very talented writer. And as an adult who frequently watches other adults skirt work to take extended coffee breaks, these kids may be way more prepared for the real world than we realize :-)

I'm with Rebecca, some good footwork there and with the Google stats and Twitter analysis it feels like a proto-FiveThrityEight piece. Hope that student (and their editor) keeps at it.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
