The New York Times looks at the latest allegations surrounding Nxivm, the Clifton Park organization that's been accused of manpulating its members. The Times story alleges that women are being branded as part of a secret sorority within Nxivm, and reports former members are asking state authorities to investigate. [NYT]

Albany properties lose tax break
Five properties in Albany will lose tax breaks reserved for mixed use projects that were given to them due to an error by the city's former assessor. City officials say none of the properties in question would have come to fruition without the breaks.[TU]

Bow Tie may still be considering Troy
While Bow Tie Cinemas is considering a theater in Cohoes after pulling out of a plan to locate at 1 Monument Square in Troy, the owners say they may not have ruled out a Troy location. Meanwhile Troy City Council President Carmella Mantello is proposing a special committee to find an appropriate use for 1 Monument Square. [Spectrum] [WNYT]

Chuck Schumer used Mike Pence's visit to Buffalo on Tuesday to point out problems with the Trump administrations proposal to end deductions for state and local taxes, saying Pence has "been living in a tax twilight zone," and calling the plan a "gut shot to the middle class and all of upstate's economy." The town of Glenville and its police department received $1.5 million public safety grant to deal with safety and space problems at their headquarters.

Saratoga County joins opioid suit
Saratoga County's board of Supervisors has authorized a plan to file a lawsuit "against companies and potentially physicians responsible for careless practices related to the manufacturing, distribution and prescriptions of opioid pharmaceuticals.". [Gazette]

Ezra Prentice protest
Protesters were outside of the Ezra Prentice Homes in Albany on Tuesday to call attention to the dangers from the many diesel trucks that come through the area. [News 10]

Special session
Carl Heastie says he doesn't think there will be a need for a special session of the NYS legislature before January, unless there is an unexpected cut in federal funding. [ TU]

Waterford/Halfmoon testing water near Colonie landfill
The towns of Waterford and Halfmoon, which oppose a proposed expansion of the Colonie landfill, have teamed up with Riverkeeper to do their own texting on the Mohawk River near the landfill. [TU]
