Opportunities for volunteering around Thanksgiving?
Rebecca emails:
I'm wondering about any volunteer opportunities in the area for Thanksgiving.. I know about Equinox but maybe there are smaller or less known organizations that might need help, either with food donations or a warm body to prep/serve/deliver? Thanks
We've had similar holiday volunteering questions in the past, but we like the idea of shining some light on smaller or lesser-known orgs that could use the help.
So, got a suggestion for Rebecca and other looking to lend a hand? Please share! And sentence or two about why're suggesting an org can be helpful.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities on South Lake Street, Albany, houses up to 25 families free of charge each night while their children are being treated at local hospitals. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by volunteers. RMHC posts "wish lists" of needed food items and such on Face Book. This is a wonderful organization. Bethesda House and City Mission in Schenectady both have soup kitchens that will likely be seeking volunteers for Thanksgiving.
Other places to consider are assisted living facilities, such as Glendale Home, that would likely welcome volunteers for residents who don't have family or friends to visit on Thanksgiving.
There's also a whole MeetUp for Capital District Volunteers (https://www.meetup.com/Capital-District-Volunteers/), who would likely have some more ideas.
