Not exactly the cheeriest hey-spring-approaches thought, but worth noting: These warm end-of-winter/beginning-of-spring days also mean that ticks are becoming active. See this account by Joellen Lampman, who's with the New York State Integrated Pest Management program, about collecting 26 ticks in a park near Albany on that recent 70-degree day.
