The modern world: Bitcoin mining companies are setting up in Plattsburgh because of an arrangement the city has for a guaranteed supply of cheap electricity. The mayor there tells NYT Bitcoin mining is now consuming 10 percent of the city's power, and it's prompting questions about sustainability, jobs, and economic development. [NYT]
