Appeal in fatal Lake George crash
Lawyers for the man convicted in the fatal 2016 Lake George boat crash are appealing his conviction, claiming the sentence imposed on Alexander West was excessive and that numerous legal issues point to the need for a new trial or dismissal of some charges. [TU][Post Star][WNYT]

Nixon coming to Hoosick falls
Cynthia Nixon is planning to visit Hoosick Falls today to meet with residents about their struggle with PFOA polluted water. [TU]

Cynthia Nixon told supporters at a private fundraiser last week that if she is elected she would seek to legalize marijuana and tax the drug. [NYT]

NXIVM
NIXVM leader Keith Raniere has been sent to a federal transfer center in Oklahoma and is expected to be sent to Brooklyn to be arraigned on charges of sex trafficking and other crimes. [News 10]

Crash victims
Police have identified the victims of Monday's fatal crash in Glenville as 28 year old Joshua Mendetta and 59 year old Tamicia Liberty. They say Mendetta failed to keep right, crossing over into the opposite lane. [TU]

Saratoga shelters
Bethesda Episcopal church asking the city of Saratoga and Shelters of Saratoga to consider moving the code blue shelter to the church's new parish house and community center on Washington Street. [Saratogian]

Bank robber
An Albany man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly robbing a Central Avenue bank on Monday. [TU]

Crime task force
Schenectady County's intermunicipal street crime task force, announced in September, is expected to be operating by this summer. [Gazette]

For profit college tuition assistance
The newly passed state budget includes a plan to expand the Enhanced Tuition Award program to students enrolling in for-profit colleges. [TU]

Jasper Nolan
Former Saratoga County Republican Committee Chairman Jasper Nolan, among the longer-tenured Republican county chairman in New York, died this week at the age of 83. [Gazette]

Greenhouse emissions
Tom DiNapoli's office is calling on some of the nations largest utilities, airlines and energy companies to cut their greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Paris climate accord, event though Donald Trump announced last year that the U.S. would pull out of the agreement. [TU]

Albany Craft Beer Week

Today-Saturday: It's Albany Craft Beer Week, with events each night at venues around the area. The cap to the week is the Albany Craft Beer Festival at the Washington Ave Armory on Saturday.

Startup Tech Valley
Wednesday: The Startup Tech Valley series will be at Schenectady County Community College for another night of short presentations from startups. Wednesday 5:30 pm -- free (registration required)
