The opioid abuse epidemic
This weekend's Times Union included a big feature by Bethany Bump and Claire Hughes about the opioid abuse epidemic here in New York and the Capital Region -- its scale, the loss it's caused, and the different types of responses that are emerging to take on the problem as a public health issue. Even so: "[L]ocal addiction experts say one essential obstacle remains as firm as it's ever been: in that sliver of time when someone with a substance use disorder is ready for help, there are still too many barriers to getting it. Same-day treatment is almost unheard of." [TU]
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
