Over at NYT, Tyler Kepner looked at how the Houston Astros assigned one of their stats analysts (a former NASA engineer) to work as a coach with the ValleyCats last season, to help with player development and in-game decisions. The Cats are a farm team for the Astros, which as Kepner notes, are "the most unapologetically progressive [team] in baseball."
