Replacing Schneiderman, former Schenectady housing inspector sentenced, tractor trailer explodes in Saratoga, 100 years of the YWCA
Schneiderman
New York's Solicitor General Barbara Underwood will temporarily replace Eric Schneiderman as Attorney General. Schneiderman, who had been a champion of women's issues in public, stepped down after accusations that he hit and belittled women were made in a New Yorker article on Monday. Meanwhile legislators are working on finding a replacement to fill the seat until elections. Some say they'd like to see a woman get the replacement post. Andrew Cuomo called the revelations about Schneiderman shocking and disturbing, and called for a special prosecutor to handle the investigation into Schneiderman's behavior. Gubernatorial candidates Cynthia Nixon and Marc Molinaro weighed in on the situation, and on the culture of silence and abuse. Schneiderman had set himself up as a foil to Donald Trump, leaving many Trump opponents wondering who will pick up that mantle.
