Old Kinderhook, oll korrect
Word nerding + some history about Kinderhook's favorite son + 19th century hipsters = this Vox video about the history of "OK." (embedded above)
Two things:
1. There's a good chance you've heard all sorts of stories related to OK and Martin Van Buren, and this video quickly highlights some of the history.
2. The origins of OK are a great example of how people have always played around with language and traded what we now call memes. It's just the media that have changed.

Also also: Martin Van Buren's home in Kinderhook is open for tours through November. It's worth a visit sometime.
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
