Discretionary riders
This starts out as a reflection how cities in Europe often make things like public transportation much more friendly for families with young children (and all sorts of people), but Alissa Walker ultimately arrives at something that's immediately applicable here in the US and the Capital Region: If you think you'd ride public transit more often if it was better, it's worth making the effort to ride even just a little bit more as it is now because of the signal that ridership sends. One day a week for work. A night out. An afternoon visit somewhere.
(That said, advocating for increased frequency and quality -- which makes transit easier and more useful -- is important, too.)

Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
