Drawing: Albany Barn Fusion 2018

Albany Barn exterior 2018

Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

The Albany Barn's annual Fusion art/food cocktail party returns this Friday, October 12. We have a pair of catalyst tickets for the event and they could be your pair of catalyst tickets.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

What are two Capital Region things that should be combined -- and what would they create?

We've asked this question in the past and it's resulted in some fun answers. It could be whatever -- two geographic areas of the region, a drink from one place and a food item from another, two events mashed up. Be creative. We'll pick one winner at random.

Here's what's in store at Fusion, which teams up the Albany Barn and Albany Chefs' Food & Wine Festival:

+ specialty menu by Chef Michelle Hines Abram with special guest chefs: Chef Joe Braoudakis (Roux), Chef Melissa Doney (Brown's Brewing Co.), Chef Jaime Ortiz (Angelo's 677 Prime), Chef Yono Purnomo (Yono's/dp an American Basserie)
+ regional wine & spirit pairings
+ craft beer pairings from Druthers Brewing Co. and BarStream
+ coffee bar by Stacks Espresso Bar
+ piping hot tunes from around the globe served up by the one-and-only DJ Trumastr
+ artist & chef challenges, live art making, and studio tours with artists-in-residence
+ silent auction and more!

Fusion is Friday, October 12 from 6-10 pm at the Albany Barn. Tickets are $75 each and available online. Catalyst tickets are $125 each, and include special reserved parking and commemorative Albany Barn glassware with a signature cocktail.

The event is a fundraiser for the Albany Barn, which serves as an creative arts incubator and affordable live/work space for artists in Albany.

Important: All comments must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. (Normal commenting guidelines apply.) One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by 5 pm on Wednesday and must respond by noon on Thursday.

AOA is a media sponsor of Fusion.

The menu at Chez Mike's and the view at Dinosaur BBQ or Brown's. We need more delicious changing menus on the water!

Vegan cider belly donuts should combine with dairy-free The Dutch Udder ice cream.

I'd say the Cohoes waterfalls view with a kick-butt brewery! You'd have a gem of nature paired with (hopefully) delicious beer. Thanks.

I'd combine our incoming transitory crow population with our persistent feral plastic bags in an epic struggle for dominance. At least until a plastic crow is born. Will she unite the warring clans and rule the city?

I'd combine the innovative spirit of Tech Valley with our fervent belief that 787 is the Life-Blood of Our Region to create a renewable source of energy that will power us into the next century.

I'd combine the people who double park in the bike lane next to a fire hydrant with the Parking Authority and bankroll the city for the foreseeable future.

I realize we're only supposed to submit one, so if this disqualifies me, I'm okay with that.

I'd like to see a brewpub with a Mexican menu. Fort Orange Brewing x Ama Cocina.

How about New World Bistro (menu and atmosphere) on the Corning Tower Observation Deck?

June Farms and paintball

The Saratoga Racetrack and summer concerts. Imagine a day at the track followed by a concert on the track infield.

How about taking the concept of Footsy Magoos (or another game bar in the capital area) and putting something like that in the concourse of Empire State Plaza? Not sure how Albany would feel about the drinking part in its state building, but I feel most people would benefit from a good ol' harmless game of skee ball during their lunch break after a frustrating morning at work, before going back to the office refreshed!

It's about time we had a movie theater that serves FOOD and DRINK. Let's combine Madison theater with Savoy Taproom.

I think we should combine Albany's riverfront (Corning Preserve) with a nice ice cream shop (Emack and Bolios) as a destination for Saturday afternoon bike rides!

I still dream of a day when a movie theater comes to downtown Troy in the old Proctor's building. Movies + Troy = awesome thing to do in the evening other than eat and drink!

The wonderful and ever growing Albany rail trail with a trail side cafe and bakery or beer garden, creating a unique, fit and delicious destination for indoor/outdoor dining.

I think we should combine huck finn's playland with the empire state plaza. all that empty space not being used - imagine a plaza full of rides. how much more entertaining would stateworker's lunchtime be?

I would like to see the Hudson River railroad bridge (Albany/Rensselaer) combined with the local rail/trail network. This would provide a more accessible, and add a redundant, river crossing for non-motorized traffic. The Dunn bridge is too narrow a path and limited by the climb necessary to traverse the span.

Food trucks at the Corning Preserve

A combination of a multi game center (bowling, darts, video, cornhole, etc., coupled with a restaurant/ brewery taproom (Lucky Strike Social and Fort Orange Brewery Lets call it... Games, Food and Brew.

I'd like to have my favorite neighborhood summer spot the Lincoln Park Pool combined with Troy's Farmer Market. Like move the farmer's market to Lincoln Park. Go for a summer swim and then stroll the market for a picnic lunch/dinner. (obviously in my dream scenario the pool and farmer's market hours may be adjusted)

Albany County prison and Andrew Cuomo!

I would combine the view from atop the Corning Tower with the dinning of The Reel Seafood Company.

How about some sort of mashup of the Amtra some top car and our favorite local restaurants. Basically great food while choo chooing along and looking at fall foliage.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
