Here's that SNL skit that referenced Albany

A Saturday Night Live skit this past weekend referenced Albany (mostly visually). It's embedded above.

The skit is more a spoof of local TV news and cringe-inducing public marriage proposals. The fake local TV news program open and set background include a pic of the Albany skyline. That's about the extent of the reference.

To those media types that went all giddy happy "OMG Albany on SNL!", well, you didn't really watch the skit did you?

Not only that, but the call letters "KCR" would indicate that the station is west of the Mississippi, so that could have been referencing Albany Oregon, or Albany Washington. What, SNL couldn't have thrown a bone to WNYT and used a News Channel 13 graphic? Ego Nwodim as Elaine Houston? Kyle Mooney as Paul Caiano? Melissa Villasenor as Kumi Tucker?

Now I'm SNL stunt casting local media personalities.

But the skit was awful - why would WNYT or this area residents want any connection with it...it was the worst skit on the show.

Didn't find this funny. I don't think SNL is funny....

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
