Stuff to do this weekend

If $4 a gallon gas prices are keeping you close to home for the holiday weekend, there's still fun to be had. Even if parades aren't your thing. Here are a few options we found right in our own backyard.

A couple of good local bands are playing tonight at Tess' Lark Tavern tonight: Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned and Scientific Maps. 10 pm / $5

He's Bach
This week The Saratoga Film Forum hosts the regional premiere of The Silence Before Bach, an artistic look at the influence of the composer that takes you to surprising places. Or so says the NY Times. Friday 8pm, Sunday 7pm. $6

Happy Birthday Bob
Dylan fans can celebrate the songwriters 67th birthday at Proctor's in Schenectady Saturday night. The GE theater is screening the Dylan documentary The Other Side of the Mirror: Bob Dylan Live at the Newport Folk Festival 1963-1965 (clips | review) Shows are at 7:45 and 10. $6

Indy at the multiplex
If you haven't checked out the new Regal Cinema multiplex at Colonie Center, the return of Indiana Jones is a good excuse.

Grill something
It's Memorial Day weekend, you have a patriotic duty to fire up the grill. It's hard to go wrong with a Bilinski's chicken sausage.

So, what are you doing this weekend?

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
