Changing it up at Clifton Park Center

It's inconspicuous from the outside, like an Indiana Jones cave.

So is Crossgates feeling too corporate for you? Colonie Center just a bit too deja vu (except for the heaven that is Sephora)? Then maybe it's time you head on over to Clifton Park Center.

the shelterThe old Clifton Country Mall has been reborn over the last two years. Sure, this small shopping oasis is still a mall, but its lush greenery, flowing water, and stores where the owner could know your name (as in, the owner isn't a conglomerate group in Nasdaq) change the shopping experience. This is the place to escape the crowds and corporate cloning you get with "convenient" mega-mall shopping.

The CPC actually has a skate shop, The Shelter, where you can talk decks with the guy behind the counter. There are toy stores that can safely be called "authentic." You can also find a magic lesson (or at least some tricks to take home) at Melvin's, a completely custom-made wedding dress at Sandriene Kim, and over 10,000 square feet for the kids to burn off some energy. And while I won't go hatin' on the fountain in Colonie Center (or lack thereof at Crossgates), sipping a MochaLisa by the water at CPC while using the free wi-fi is a certain kind of therapy.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
