Stuff to do this weekend

logo.pngThe holiday weekend is here! This is the time of year we dream about in February, so don't let it pass you by. Get out and do some stuff. Want some hints? We've got some.

Celebrate the 4th
There's a party on the Empire Plaza Friday (starts at 2) and a festival in Saratoga's Congress Park all weekend. Take in some music, fair food and arts and crafts and of course, fireworks.

Albany 1st Friday
If you're going downtown for the fireworks, you might want to check out Lark Street on the way. Things get underway a little early this month (4PM) which leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the 4th of July festivities before and/or after. Post fireworks you can walk to the 1st Friday after-party at The Fuze Box. It features a Gold Star / Live Performance by a Berkeley-trained "pianist gone mad" and DJs Lazer & Blazer .

Check out a ball game
The Tri- City Valley Cats are at "The Joe" this weekend with fireworks after the games tonight and tomorrow.

Visit the Farmers Market
Nibble your way from one end of the market to the other. We did it last weekend and came home with great bread, tomatoes, cheese and pesto. Our favorites are in Troy and Saratoga. The bonus: running into old friends. Or making new ones.

Hang by the pool
What's that you say--you don't have a pool? No problem

Stargazing
Saturday at 9pm(weather permitting), check out the Capital Region sky through the powerful telescope at the Emma Treadwell Thatcher Nature Center. An amateur astronomer will be on hand to explain what you're looking at.

Got another idea? Go ahead... share.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
