Aimee Mann in Washington Park

Aimee Mann

Albany's Monday Nights in the Park concert series has a great show lined up for tonight. Aimee Mann is headlining the night. (Yes, the Aimee Mann.) That's pretty cool all by itself, but it gets better: the show is free.

Things kick off at 6 pm in the amphitheater at the Washington Park Lakehouse. Make sure you get there in time to catch the opening act -- it's local singer/songwriter/guitarist Ashley Pond.

(Bonus: the Albany Rickshaw guy will also be there tonight.)

He said "shut up, can't you keep it down!!"

See, THIS is why I read AOA. I was just thinking to myself, "hm, I know Aimee Mann is playing tonight, but I don't know when the show starts." How helpful!

You already counsel me on what to eat and listen to... if you start dressing me in the mornings, I swear I'll make you my internet mom.

OMG OMG OMG! My boyfriend told me she was coming months ago because he knows how much I love her music. I've been looking forward to this for so long! I will be there lightening or sunshine. And I am soooooo stalking her after the show. It's at the Lakehouse which means she has two choices- meet me or run into the pond to escape me.

I met her afterward the show. Did you too?

@James: Do tell. How'd it go? (After reading James site: he's posted pictures.)

I did! But my pictures came out all wrong. :( One was blurry and the others didn't have a flash. Wasn't she nice?

She was incredibly nice! And wicked cool, too. I've met a few musicians of varying degrees of famousness over the past 10 years or so. Meeting Aimee was by far the best experience. I wish it could have lasted longer. I can't wait until she comes back -- maybe at the Egg for a Christmas show... Then, Katherine, you can take pictures again!

I would love it if she came back. It felt a little rushed too, but it was so worth it. I hope she comes back! That would be great! And the little girl chanting Aimee Mann was the cutest thing ever.

Aww! That sounds so cute! I didn't hear the little girl chanting -- but that is probably because Aimee put her arm around me for a picture and I was concentrating on not passing out...

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
