Flickring through the Capital Region

Spirit of Life in Congress Park

"The Spirit of Life" memorial in Congress Park.

That picture above is from Flickr user iessi, who's quickly becoming one of our favorite local photographers on Flickr. Check out her photostream.

Here are a few more local pics that recently caught our eye:

+ Festin2008 captured a rainbow arcing over the The Track.

+ Look at the texture of the track surface in this pic by mikefurgang.

+ Check out this great reflection of the Troy Proctor's that invisible city photography captured. The pic is part of a photo set called "In Search of Troy."

+ The aptly-user-named photosfromonhigh has a great overhead shot of the curve of the elevated road leading toward the Corning Tower.

+ And altuwa (or, as we know him from commenting here at AOA, Sebastien), snapped some good pictures of the Bitter:Sweet show at Revolution Hall.

Thanks for the link :)

There is a great community of pretty talented photographers in the Capital District; some of them are really active on Flickr, as you mentioned here, and contribute to several groups/pool dedicated to the Capital District. I can mention a few here, by increasing "scope" (disclaimer, I'm the admin of the first two, but we are all a pretty happy family):
- Center Square, Albany, NY
- Albany, NY
- Troy, NY
- Saratoga Springs, NY
- Schenectady, NY
- Lake George, NY
- 518: Capital District (NY)
- Upstate New York

These are great! I'm a member of a couple of the above Flickr groups, and I'm the admin for a group of photographers that gets together pretty frequently to go on shoots and conduct photography meetings/discussions. Our Flickr page is here:

Also, here's my personal Flickr! (KimsPics83)

Thanks for sharing these!

P.S. If you want info on our photography meetup group, just email me. Kimberly.Dunham@gmail.com

Thanks for these... just joined a couple of the Flickr groups.

Yeah thanks for the group links, I'm definitely going to check them out. This is iessi btw, just wanted to say thanks for featuring those pictures!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
