Stuff to do this weekend

Sgt Dunbar still

Sgt. Dunbar is at APL tonight.

High 60's to low 70's. Sunny. It's the perfect weekend to get all those chores done around the house!

NOT.

No matter how you weigh it, there's a ton of fun stuff to do this weekend. Here are a few items from the weekend bounty.

Library Banned
Sgt Dunbar and the Hobo Banned headlines the final APL garage band concert. Swamp Baby will be there too. The show starts at 6 tonight in the garage behind the Washington Avenue Branch of the Library.

Electric City Art Night
It's the third Friday of the month, which means it's Art Night in Schenectady. Tonight should be a great night to meander around Jay street and check out the art and music.

Larkfest
Music, food, lots of people, gorgeous weather. Oppenheimer & Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello top the list of artists playing at Larkfest this weekend. Looking for kids stuff? There's a family stage too.

Polishfest
Pierogi, kielbasa -- where do we get in line? At The Capital Region Polishfest, 250 Maxwell Road in Latham. Want more than food? There's a Chopin contest, crafters, kids stuff and polish beer to wash down the food. $2 Friday 5-10, $4 Saturday Noon-9, $4 Sunday Noon -6.

Irishfest
Irish music, culture and crafts all weekend at The Altamont Fairgrounds. Here's a list of the bands. Friday 5-11, Saturday 11-11. If you're worried about putting down a few pints and driving back from Altamont, the county Stop DWI program is providing a free bus.

Improvise
The Mop and Bucket Company have a whole weekend of Spontaneous Broadway planned. Come prepared to participate. You don't have to, but it's more fun. Check their website for times and prices.

Art
If your buddy buys an expensive piece of modern art, and you think it's crap, do you tell him or keep your mouth shut? It's opening weekend at Capital Rep for this comedy that examines the nature of art and friendship.

Have a BLT
No, it's not just another excuse to have bacon (like we need an excuse). It really is the best time of year to have one.

Pick an Apple
Cuz they won't be on the tree in February. Here's where you can do it.

Comments

Chowderfest is also this weekend in Troy.

Love the site, but sometimes I get a little tired of the usual suspects. I mean, putting the same bands and same theater companies up again and again (Sgt. Dunbar and the Hobo Banned again?) feels exclusionary, like reading those old society pages except populated with hipsters.

i was just going to post about chowderfest. any idea what time it runs until? i'll be at larkfest tomorrow but i was thinking about swinging by chowderfest afterwards. .....

No mention of Dinosaur Jr. playing in Troy on Sat. night? For shame; a hugely influential band in our own backyard, and no mention....

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
