Overheard at the golf course
A boy, about four-years-old, and what looked like his father are bundled up at Capital Hills for some sledding.
Boy: The snow is cold.
Father: Yes, the snow is cold.
Boy: Why?
Father: Um... because it is.

If that kid is anything like mine, he accepted that answer and went on to something else within a minute.

So a father in the 50's would have said: it is and deal with it.
and a father in the 60's would have said: wow, its cold? I hadnt noticed
and a father in the 70's would have said: I wonder if we could corner the snow market
and on.... and on....
