An ice rink on the pond
We saw this make-shift ice rink on Buckingham Pond in Albany and it made us smile.
One more pic after the jump.

I grew up near Buckingham and played hockey on it a few times as a kid... Was never really afraid of falling through the ice because it's only 4 feet deep in the middle. But do look out for some terrifying geese in the spring and summer, those SOB's will take your hand right off.

@SPH: You'll be happy to know that Otto has made it his job to chase those geese.

Are there any places in the area where some pond(or outdoor hockey in general) can be played?

@Andrew: The Bethlehem Town Park uses its athletic fields as ice rinks. I haven't been there in a while, but it used to be the case that they would have a designated hockey area. It's very nice there, free (you need to bring your own skates - no rentals) and there's a warming house. Oh, and no worries about falling through ice because it's on fields.
