Great comments from this week

On basketball players with long Middle Eastern names

And that is why they put numbers on their jersey's. So instead of calling Ali Farokhmanesh Ali Falafel-cash you can just call him number 5 and not expose your love of Middle Eastern fast food. As a side note, there is a freshman player on UNI's team that is 6' 10" and a junior that is 7' 1". It makes me wonder what they're eating in Iowa and where I can get some. At 5' tall I could stand to grow a few inches. I kind of want to go to the game and get a picture of me standing between the two of them...I think it would be funny.

...said Emma about Northern Iowa's basketball team.

On limitations

Every person on this planet has some kind of limitation. There is a lot of hoopla about Patterson's sight limitations because they are so obvious and public. I'd argue, though, that invisible limitations can interfere with one's ability to do their job much more than blindness does for David Patterson. If you don't believe me, ask Elliot Spitzer.

...said Lucy about the NY Post's suggestion that Governor Paterson's blindness might interfere with his job

On the tiny little edible Lark Street

But where are all of the tiny edible drunk college students?

...said Siobhan about the Edible Albany art exhibit at Crisan

On Presidents

MVB has a reputation for being a bit of a lame-o, as presidents go, but I disagree. Think about it. He allegedly coined the word, "OK," (and I'm assuming that Fonzie thumbs move. Seems logical) and grew hops as a primary crop at Lindenwald, his estate in Kinderhook, which means he was probably a home-brewer. How cool is that? Also if you go visit the historic site you can stop by the (less awesome than it used to be but still pretty good) Red Barn. So he's got that going for him. @Sarah ;)

...said Leigh about Martin Van Buren's cool factor

On living in the 'burbs

OMG!! Guilderland is dangerous?? Thats it... I'm moving my kids to another suburban school district. Anyone have suggestions? There's no way letting my kids around sleepy delivery drivers.

...said MattW about the delivery driver who plowed into a Guilderland strip mall

On fishers

Hit one with my car -- by accident, KimD -- about a year ago near GE R&D. Was huge, I thought it was some kind of a mutant weasel from behind Knolls Atomic over there. Had to replace the front bumper.

...said nedabout the Capital Regions furry newcomers

On Wine

I wonder how he feels about wine that comes out of a box.

...said Maxabout 677 Prime sommelier Ian Egas

On ...well...

Huh, I thought it was just my bed a rockin'. Guess I was wrong.
Said Carrie about the recent earthquakes in the Capital Region.

On the dangers of reading AOA at work

I really should not have read that at work because I was laughing hysterically all by myself and couldn't share when asked.

...said Emma on Dan Savage's revelation that he discovered he was LBTQ during a recent visit to UAlbany

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

What's All Over Albany?

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.
