Who has the best egg nog?
Since we're right in the middle of prime egg nog season, we figured it was a good time to recycle this post about taste testing locally-available eggnogs.
We remember being a little surprised by the results. There were a lot of good comments, too.

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. So it's not technically "egg" nog, but I was recently surprised to realize that Silk Soy Nog is a really nice alternative. It has a lighter texture, it's very, very tasty, and I didn't notice any weird soy flavor.
Probably not the best choice for serious aficio-nog-os, but a great option for vegans, lactose intolerant folks, or anyone who prefers a lighter egg nog or gets the heebie jeebies about drinking eggs.

From what I hear, Meadow Brook Farms has the absolute ultimate eggnog. And they deliver.

My hubby swears by Hood. So much so, that he refuses to buy anything else. I'm not a huge connoisseur myself.

I've never understood buying store-bought eggnog because it's so easy to make at home with the simplest ingredients--eggs, cream, sugar, booze, a sprinkle of nutmeg. And you can customize it to suit your taste--bourbon, rum etc. and the degree of sweetness and richness you like.
(By the way, does the store-bought kind even have liquor in it? I'm guessing not or maybe some artificial flavor. How natural are these products?)

I'll vouch for the Meadow Brook Farms eggnog. It's delicious ---and the old school charm of the milk truck seems to add a certain something.

Ok, I am a bit behind the calendar in this discussion, but this year I tried Hood's flavored eggnogs that were sold in local Price Choppers. The sugar cookie and pumpkin were sooooo delicious..there is/was also a gingerbread and a cinnamon flavor, neither of which I got around to trying before Christmas was over and they were gone. Next year!
