Interesting in 2009: Kaitlyn Ross

kaitlyn ross greenland smallOne of the best things about working on AOA is that we've get the chance to meet a lot of interesting people. We'll be highlighting a handful of them between now and the start of 2010.

If it was cold and snowing during the past year, Kaitlyn Ross was probably outside. On TV.

Kaitlyn first caught out attention after we noticed that she seemed to always draw the short straw each morning at Capital News 9. Ice? Snow? Gale-force winds? Ross! Get out there! We need someone out there to tell people they shouldn't go out there!

So we asked her about all those frozen stand-ups -- and she had a delightful sense of humor about the whole situation. (It carries over into her tweets, too.)

KR's cold weather skills were put to good use later in the year when CapNews sent her to Greenland on a cargo plane with the Air National Guard. On 72 hours notice.

Funny. Ready for anything. Able to rock warm-weather gear. OK, we're fans.

We recently emailed about Kaitlyn about the last year -- and what's up for 2010:

I have finally thawed out from the Greenland trip - just in time for winter in Albany. And while it's freezing outside, I've finally figured out a strategy to stay out of the cold - LOTS of advanced planning. I try to have three more attractive ideas than SNOW COVERAGE for my Executive Producer every day - and it's worked out so far.
Also the scheduling gods have been kind, and I was anchoring during the last snow storm.
I do have some fun news about what's next, but mum's the word until the first of the year - DUN DUN DUN. But I am really looking forward to 2010 and all the new challenges it will bring.
Happy New Year!!

Kaitlyn Ross is a breath of fresh air in the morning. She seems like a cool chick to hang out with...even if she's covering a monsoon.

This is a nice feature, and I especially like this one on Kaitlyn. She's local and has really settled into this role and grown into a good reporter. Expect big things from her down the road.

As someone who as known Kaitlyn since the day she arrived in this world, I can only say that she is every bit as much fun as you may think she is. From early on she possessed a spark of life that always made you want to be around her. From the time I used to toss her in the air while watching Sunday football with her Dad, through tutoring her through high school math, to admiring the beautiful young woman she has become, Kaitlyn has always put a smile on Uncle Pat's face. She is the perfect product of her two loving parents and I am proud to call her my Niece.

Kaitlyn is everyone's sunshine in the morning
I love eating my breakfast with her!

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
