Albany Bombers closed for a month

Getting a face-lift.

As Matt Baumgartner mentioned in our interview with him, the Lark Street Bombers will be closed this month for a complete renovation. From a post on Matt's blog:

We're gutting the kitchen and bathrooms, re-doing the bar, and making some really nice facade improvements. I'm really excited. It's gonna be great. Yes, I'm nervous about shutting down for that long. But it's needed. And we're also making menu improvements and adding some new additions to the bar side.

Matt says he expects the location to re-open January 27.

Matt can you gut your bartending staff and find some with out attitude problems? Maybe you can take some from Wolf's and bring them up. Oh wait...

I think bartenders in general have bad attitudes. Can't blame Bombers for that. Really, where do they get off expecting a dollar tip for taking the cap off of a twist-off bottle?

Haha, Bombers staff are notorious for being "uppity," but I've had overall positive experiences there. Perhaps I just got lucky...

Anything that will help folks want to come in and enjoy some food and bevs...because up 'til now, I avoid the place like the plague. Too crowded, and far too many malcontents.

Can the menu be redesigned as well? I live off of Lark St. and will travel down to Delmar to get a decent burrito. The food at Bombers is just terrible.

I really want a BBQ chicken quesadilla now that I know I can't have one!

Gutting the bathrooms?! Meaning... the men's room might actually be sanitary with a door that closes?! Well, that fixes half my complaints about the restaurant... Next, just improve the incredibly overrated, mediocre food and we'll be all set. (The quesadillas and rasta fries can stay)

Haters gonna hate, but I'm really excited about the improvements. I hope the booths stay the same, though... I like having to touch knees with my mister.

does this mean your $9 jack and cokes are going up in price? cuz at those prices, you should be able to expand across all of lark...

Gotta agree about the menu. I stick to strictly nachos and dip when it comes to Bombers, because the burritos themselves are just way too uneven. People go to Bombers for the atmosphere and the birthday Margaritas, not so much for the food.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
