Prompted by the planned closure of Thacher Park, local historian Don Rittner has uncorked an epic post on his blog detailing the geological and human history of the park. It's jammed full of interesting facts and bits. Also: Bob Shenise sent along this video of photos from the Indian Ladder trail -- watching it full-screen in 720p is like taking a three minute vacation.

Great article, but I was surprised to see no mention of James Hall, NY's first State Paleontologist, RPI graduate, and namesake of RPI's Hall Hall dorm.
Seriously, there is some awesome geology to be learned walking along the cliffs there.
